Stanton SCS.4DJ

Posted on 09:01 by Unknown

Very nice layout of the controller surface.
The newly released controller from Stanton is a step closer to what I would believe to be a natural step in the DJ controller revolution. As of this moment digital DJing is pretty relient on a controller, a computer and some kind of software. The SCS.4DJ is a controller in it's true form, but it also has built-in software that makes it able to simply

As anticipated earlier this week (due to a mysterious choice in the Traktor auto configurator) Pioneer has launched their first ever dedicated Traktor mixer.
As a central unit in a standard Mixer/Vinyl/CD setup the option to play directly through via line or phono aswell as an option to use the internal USB soundcard (48 kHz / 24 bit) is available.

Novation Slicer

Posted on 05:17 by Unknown
There is something brewing before the big Traktor Pro 2 release.
Novation which is well known for their synthesizers has started hitting the DJ controller market. Earlier they've released Dicer for Serato and Launchpad for Ableton. They also have the general controller Nocturn and the a portable sound card with built in effects.
Next up is aparently the Slicer for Traktor. In true Native

Pioneer Nexus is released

Posted on 16:09 by Unknown

The new Pioneer DJM-900 Nexus
The Nexus was realy portrayed in the teaser video as an effects controller, but in fact it was an entire new mixer: The Pioneer DJM-900 Nexus!
This will probably become the new club standard by the end of 2011...

I think it's the best looking mixer they've produced so far.
The best thing is that Pioneer DJM-900 has got Traktor support! It's simply made for DVS

Denon DN-MC6000 Traktor Controller

Posted on 21:46 by Unknown

Though Denon didn't make a big fuzz about this unit at NAMM 2011 it's still a recently released controller that deserve some attention.
Made for Traktor and shipped with Traktor LE, but works best with Traktor Pro.
The awesome controller has almost any functions for Traktor straight up on the controll surface.

Check it out

Gemini Firstmix

Posted on 16:43 by Unknown
I've hasseled Gemini about their product quality lately as they are now trying to make their way into the market. I haven't tried a Gemini product for about 15 years, but I still remember their dodgy quality products as a dear memory back when I started DJing.
However I think they might have hit their market segment with Firstmix. This is what I remember good old Gemini was aiming for and what I

American Audio VMS-4 Traktor FIRST LOOK

Posted on 11:59 by Unknown

Nothing shows off the gear like a video. :) I think this is a pretty neat controller for Traktor. Like the touch faders that 's on theese controllers. I think we'll be seeing quite alot more of this type of additions to controllers in the future.

This video is from NAMM 2011

EXFORM PDS-1 PCDJ SWITCHER

If you've ever played back to back with another DJ playing on a PC, you've probably experienced some difficulties when changing setups. This smart box in the setup makes switching easy and pretty simple too. A must have for any clubs featuring more then one DJ pr. night.

Phil takes a look at Midifighter

Posted on 06:14 by Unknown

And we're still on the Midifighter today... Phil Morse at DigitalDJTips did a review of DJ Techtools' Midifighter. Phil is pretty thorough in his work and this review is no exception. There's also a very nice video of his mapping which I find to be pretty nice. It's made for Virtual DJ, but you can do the same for Traktor.

I'm looking to get one myself some time this year

Two channel mixers

Posted on 03:12 by Unknown
DJ Techtools has done an article about two channel mixers.
For those of you who use two channels and timecode, the mixer is at the heart of your performance. So selecting the right one is important. Picking the right one is pretty important.
Personaly I like the Pioneer mixers, but that's probably what's been served to me in clubs over the years. It's a preference thing really.

Limited Edition Fluorescent Control Vinyl!!

Posted on 12:04 by Unknown

Not much to say really except: YEEES! THEY'RE BACK!. I've seen some records that glow in the dark and I now know what I'm getting all my friends for Christmas. Atleast the ones that have Traktor... Or Serato! :)
I guess you need some blacklight for this to work but the UV filter on any movinghead/scanner should do the trick.
They come in Fluorescent Green, Fluorescent Blue and Fluorescent

Novation Dicer is a pretty neet little gadget for those of you who use timecode vinyl for controlling Traktor. DJ Techtools recently reliesed a mapping for Traktor. Novation just made a clam-shell case for it so that you can bring them along in style. Love it!

Retail price is about $15 USD.

Single deck controllers

Posted on 04:41 by Unknown

One of the reviewed controllers
This is a review I've been waiting on for a couple of weeks.
DigitalDJTips.com has released a very nice review (that they are probably currently expanding) where they take a look at single deck midi controllers.

I think it's a very good review and I like the way they comment every controller with the manufacurers comments and what they think. Very nice Phil!

KRK launch Headphones

Posted on 22:54 by Unknown
KRK has been making monitors for 25 years and I use them myself for DJing. Using studio monitor for DJing really gives away all your errors and is a great way to find flaws in your mixing techniques.
For a studio monitor manufacturer to launch a headsphones series is a good sign when it comes to the quality of the product. They are expected to keep their headphones as high end as their monitors
