The reason to this was very simple, but took some time to figure out. After trying to calibrate the decks and getting: Unkown medium I

The other day I tried out Ableton Live for the first time. I found some tracks and just added them and tried to do some easy mixes. As I went through the different tracks I found that I had added an old track that is not played on click (Tempo is all over the place).
However... When I tried it out the beats matched perfectly! I was stunned about how good the timestretch in the software was.

Combining audio sources on PC

Posted on 04:27 by Unknown

You can use Traktor with just this bad boy for $1 and the internal soundcard in your computer.
It's fairly easy combining audio sources on MAC cause it's built in to the core platform. On PC it's a bit different, but there is a software that will help you resolve this issue. It's called ASIO4ALL and is a freeware that is available for download. I'm not quite confident that the stability is 100%

Building a mix

Posted on 04:37 by Unknown
DJ Techtools did a nice article about how to build a mix, or set if you like. An informative article that look to parallells between a mix/set and a feature film. This also actually reffer to the construction of a single track.
In this example it all boils down to the example of a three-act paradigm:

I think this was a good way to attack the concept on how to build a mix/set. I've seen alot of

USB issue: Not enough power

Posted on 01:08 by Unknown
I've experienced this once on a mac, but never on a PC... :)

From DJ Techtools
The reason is simple and stated in the error message: Your hardware simply deliver enough juice to your MIDI devices. As the MIDI devices use alot of power these days, with LED lights flashing all over the place, you probably will experience this in the future aswell. DJ Techtools has written an article that's

Kontrol S4 Midi mode

Posted on 03:05 by Unknown
Hitting Shift + Browse button on your S4 controller sets it to "MIDI mode". This makes it possible to controll another applications then Traktor S4 with the Native Instruments Kontrol S4 controller! :) Fancy.

PS:
It's should in theory disable the HID controlls, but that's not the case for all the buttons. So there are some bugs that hopefully NI will fix a software upgrade in the near future.

Well... Tick A box is an understatement. It's more like a couple of dosine, but it's worth it. Maybe your feedback can make someone make a more informed descision on what DJ gear to produce in the future. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of the survey.

TIP: Music on USB

Posted on 02:22 by Unknown
I've had some problem with Traktor crashing while playing from external disks and drives.
My Traktor is normaly pretty reliable, but when I play music directly from an external drive it some times just gives my computer some hickups.
Just want to recommend you NOT playing directly from an external source, but copying your tracks to your local drive. It could just be my computer acting up, but
